Privacy Policy

The short version
Nothing you type or paste into a CleanVault tool is ever sent anywhere. Every conversion, hash, decode and comparison runs inside your browser using ordinary JavaScript. There is no server endpoint that accepts your input, so there is nothing to log, store, sell or lose. You can confirm this yourself: open your browser's developer tools, switch to the Network tab, and use any tool on this site.
The website itself is a different thing from the tools on it. CleanVault is free because the site shows advertising, and advertising involves third parties. This page explains exactly where that line sits.
What we never collect
We do not collect, store, transmit or process the content you put into any tool. That includes text you paste, files you drag in, tokens you decode, passwords you check and colours you pick. It also includes the output. We do not log keystrokes, we do not retain clipboard contents, and we do not send analytics events containing your data.
We do not operate an account system. There is nothing to sign up for, so we hold no names, no passwords and no profiles.
Files you open in a tool
Tools that accept a file use the browser's FileReader interface, which
gives the page access to a file you have chosen, on your own device. The file is
read into the browser's memory and discarded when you close the tab. It is not uploaded.
Advertising
This site displays advertising served by Google, using Google AdSense. To do that, Google and its partners may set and read cookies on your device and may use device identifiers and your approximate location, in order to select ads and measure their performance. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads based on your visit to this site and other sites.
These advertising systems have no access to what you type into a tool. That data never leaves the page, so there is nothing for an ad script to read even in principle. What advertisers can see is ordinary web-browsing information: that a browser loaded a page on cleanvault.io, and the technical details every web request carries.
You can opt out of personalised advertising by Google at Google Ads Settings, and out of third-party vendors' personalised advertising at aboutads.info.
Consent
If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, you are shown a consent banner before any personalised advertising cookie is set, and you can change or withdraw that choice at any time from the link in the footer. If you decline, you will still see ads — they will be non-personalised.
Cookies and local storage we set ourselves
One item, in your browser's local storage, remembering whether you chose the light or dark theme. It contains the word "light" or "dark" and nothing else. It never leaves your device and it is not used to identify you. See the Cookie Policy for the full table.
Server logs
Our hosting provider records standard web-server access logs — IP address, timestamp, the page requested, browser user-agent — as every web host does, for security and troubleshooting. These logs contain no tool input, because tool input never reaches a server. They are retained for a limited period by the host and are not used for profiling.
Your rights
If you are covered by the GDPR, the UK GDPR or the CCPA, you have rights of access, correction, deletion, portability and objection over personal data held about you. Because we hold no accounts and no user records, in most cases we have nothing to return or erase — but write to hello@cleanvault.io and we will tell you honestly what does and does not exist. Requests about advertising data held by Google should go to Google, which is the controller for that data.
Children
CleanVault is a professional utility and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect anything from them, and there is no mechanism by which we could.

Material changes to this policy will be reflected in the date at the top of this page.
