QR Code Generator
Generate a QR code for a URL, plain text, email address, phone number or WiFi network, and download it as a PNG.
The WiFi case is the one that matters
A WiFi QR code contains the network name and the password in plain text — that is how the format works. Generate one on a site that builds it server-side and you have just sent your WiFi password to a stranger's machine, which is a genuinely bad afternoon if the network is an office rather than a kitchen. This generator draws the code on a <canvas> element in your browser, so the credentials never leave the page.
Error correction, briefly
Level L tolerates about 7% damage, M about 15%, and H about 30%. Higher correction means a denser code for the same content, so it scans from further away only if you also print it larger. Use M for anything on a screen, and H when the code will be printed on something that gets handled, folded or rained on.
Common questions
Is my WiFi password sent anywhere?
No. The code is drawn on a canvas element in your browser and the PNG is produced locally. The credentials never enter a network request.
Which error-correction level should I use?
M for screens and clean prints. H if the code will be printed on packaging, a poster or anything that gets handled — it survives about 30% damage.
Do the codes expire?
No. A QR code is a static encoding of whatever you put in it. It works forever, which also means you cannot change where it points once it is printed.
