What the numbers mean
Reading time is calculated at 238 words per minute, the figure from Brysbaert's 2019 meta-analysis of silent reading rates for adults in English — not the round 200 most tools use. Speaking time uses 150 words per minute, which is the usual pace for presentation delivery rather than conversation.
Keyword density is the share of total words a term accounts for, with common stop words excluded so the list is not dominated by the and and. Treat it as a diagnostic, not a target: writing to hit a density figure produces text that reads badly and has not helped rankings for well over a decade.
Counting happens here, not on a server
Draft copy is commercially sensitive more often than people assume — unpublished announcements, client work under NDA, submissions with an embargo. This counter processes the text in the page with ordinary string operations, so the draft is never transmitted and never stored.
Common questions
How is reading time calculated?
At 238 words per minute for silent reading and 150 words per minute for speaking aloud, rounded up to the nearest minute.
Are stop words included in the keyword list?
No. Common English function words are filtered out so the top-ten list reflects the subject matter rather than grammar.
Is my draft stored anywhere?
No. The text stays in the page. Close the tab and it is gone.
